These are the days and precious few weeks where anything is possible. The players are back from sporting their holiday flip-flops and pre-season is in full swing. For a fan like myself, the possibilities are endless. We just won’t mention the FFP thing or remind ourselves of the end to last season.
In my 36 years as a fan, I attended the highest number of games last season. It wasn’t many if you compare it to most, but for me it was significant. I always go to the first home game of the season, then see how it goes from there. Family commitments usually stop me from seeing any more than four or five games, but that almost doubled last season and included the last four homes games. I mention this because even then I was happy to watch my team take to the field and play for the shirt. As I’ve grown older, my affinity to my club has grown. I’m happy to do the 4 hour round trip to worship at the City Ground. The journey may be a touch longer on the way home if we lose but that’s ok. I don’t mind.
Earlier this year I was lucky enough to be told by my family that they’d buy me a season ticket as a birthday present. It was the best present ever! I’ve never had one before, so to be able to attend every home game this season will be something special for me. I thought I’d mark the occasion by writing this blog – as if there weren’t enough on the web already! I just thought I’d make my regular pilgrimage to the City Ground even more worthwhile by sharing my views with any Forest fans that may happen to stumble upon this minute part of the Wobbly Wide Web. Please be under no illusion. It will probably be neither insightful nor in-depth. It may occasionally be interesting, but I can’t promise anything.
My name is Sean. I’m a Forest fan. And this is my blog.
