I dragged my sorry, flu ridden butt to the City Ground when I probably should have stayed home and I don’t feel much better now. So this is going to be short and sweet. Sorry.

The one thing Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has achieved since becoming QPR manger is to make them difficult to break down. OK, they’ve only won once and have lost a couple of league games since he took over, but like us earlier in the season they are only losing by the odd goal.

This wasn’t a classic. To be fair, we had a lovely period of play in the middle of the first half that saw us hit the woodwork twice through Osborn and Tesche and have a great header from Mancienne well saved. At the other end, Dorus made a world class save from a free kick on the stroke of half time. Apart from that, there’s not a lot else to talk about insofar as the match is concerned.

What I will trumpet though is our rock-steady back five, who game-on-game look assured and eminently capable. Tesche had a couple a dodgy moments during the game but was otherwise steady, with Mancienne doing a great job and providing extra cover in the defensive line when needed.

We’re now unbeaten in 13 games and can look forward to an FA Cup clash with Premier League Watford on Saturday. My current state would preclude me from attending, so I’m hoping to have a Lazarus-like improvement in my demeanour come Saturday morning. My wife – who is a healthcare professional – says I’ve got the flu. That’s not man-flu by the way, the actual flu. As she and my daughter will attest, I am the world’s worst patient because I hate being ill and am usually grumpier than a grumpy thing. Of course the perfect pick-me-up would be a visit to The City Ground to see us dispatch some Premier League opposition and book our place in the 5th round of The Cup.
