21st July 2015
That was the date of my first post on this little corner of Forest fandom. Just over a year ago, but so much has happened in that time.
Little did I know the changes that would befall our great club and circumstances I would find myself in as a result of my witterings. In fairness, those changes to our club weren’t exactly surprising given our Chairman’s track record, but that’s for another article.
As I’ve said before, I’ve met some lovely people and made some new friends. The feedback to some of my posts have been positive and heartening and I even enjoyed going to the matches – yes, even that.
There’s never really anything to write about in the summer and with us only recently appointing a Director of Football and Head Coach, it did seem for a while like we’d never get up to speed with our 2016/17 season preparations.
Yes, we’ve just lost 3-0 in a “secret” behind-closed-doors friendly at Spurs’ training ground – ironically not that far from where I live – but looking at those who represented the Garibaldi today, that’s not a bad-looking bunch of players. Time will tell I suppose.
In the intervening months, I’ve been fortunate enough to align myself with some fellow Forest fans who are supremely more talented than me when it comes to writing about our beloved club.
To that end, it’s not just the beginning of the new season that excites me, but the opportunity to share with you a project we’ve been working on for a while.
Bandy & Shinty is its name (you may have already heard about it) and we hope it captures the essence of what it means to be a Forest fan. What small part I’ve played in its inception and creation makes me immensely proud and I hope you will find it just as interesting to read as we’ve found it enjoyable to put together.
So why not head on over to our website for a bit more info. There’ll be weekly updates every Friday leading up to the first home game of the season against Nigel’s Burton Albion. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
Or you can check us out on Twitter @BandyandShinty and maybe even drop us a Tweet
There are plenty of ways to interact with Bandy & Shinty.
In the meantime, we’ll carry on meeting the deadlines to deliver this to you for the Burton game. As for me? Well I was stupid enough to buy a season ticket, so there’ll be more of this optimistic drivel for at least the next season.
COME ON YOU REDS!!!
